Kumi Koda (倖田來未, Kōda Kumi) was born on November 13, 1982. She is a Japanese pop singer from Kyoto who debuted in Japan in 2000 with "Take Back". She is the older sister of Japanese pop singer, Misono and did not achieve major success until her seventh single, "real Emotion/1000 no Kotoba".
Koda Kumi became really popular in 2005 after the releases of "Secret" and "Butterfly" . Later that year she became one of the best selling artists of 2005 with the success of "Best ~first things~". At the end of 2006, Oricon named her the top seller of 2006.

"On April 17, Avex Entertainment announced her 40th single, a "four elements single," in reference to FREAKY and 4 hot wave, called MOON, to be released on June 11, 2008. The single will have four songs in total, including the two promotional releases of ballad, "Moon Crying," and the collaboration with American singer, Fergie, "That Ain't Cool." The CD also contains two other songs, one will be collaboration of J-Reggae artist, PUSHIM. The single also includes the PVs for "Moon Crying," and "That Ain't Cool." Taa-Daaa ! June 11th xx
